I get authenticated, but return to the login screen to authenticate again
JHED users attempting to access Adobe Connect are successfully authenticated by Enterprise Authentication but continuously returned to the login screen to authenticate again.
WORKAROUND: connect through VPN (https://portal.johnshopkins.edu/sslvpn) before attempting to log into Adobe Connect.
Cannot Play a Recording
There have been instances where recordings made in Adobe Connect cannot be accessed. When this happens, the recording appears in the "Recordings" tab of the meeting, but any attempt to view it causes Adobe Connect to freeze. In addition, the "Recording Information" page will show "Disk Usage: 0.0 KB."
Other institutions are experiencing the same problem with Adobe Connect, but the exact cause is still unknown. We are actively working with Adobe to correct the issue as quickly as possible.
PowerPoint Font Display Issues
We have encountered some issues when PowerPoint is loaded into the Share pod.
- Chinese (e.g., SIMSUN) font not displaying even if the font is embedded in the PowerPoint
- Arabic not displaying right-to-left
WORKAROUND
a. You can share the PowerPoint application itself, and display the file correctly
b. Use images rather than the actual font characters
What fonts do we support? See here for how they look in Adobe Connect.
| Arial | Palatino Linotype |
| Arial Black | Symbol |
| Comic Sans MS | Tahoma |
| Courier | Times New Roman |
| Courier New | Trebuchet MS |
| Franklin Gothic Medium | Verdana |
| Georgia | Webdings |
| Impact | Wingdings |
| Lucida Console | |
| Microsoft Sans Serif |

Camera and Voice - Privacy Settings
Adobe Flash global privacy settings may interfere with the operation of the Camera and Voice within Adobe Connect. See Camera and Voice - Privacy Settings for more information.
Recordings
We have encountered some issues with the recordings made of sessions. We have been able to replicate these issues and filed bugs with Adobe on the following:
- Adobe Connect does not record the voice-over-ip "active speaker" status (e.g., who is speaking)
- Adobe Connect truncates whiteboard text areas in recording
- Meeting Hosts can lose access to a recording if you change the public/private permission. If this happens, contact connectsupport@jhu.edu.
Choppy Audio
We have heard complaints about choppy voice-over-ip audio quality. Adobe suggests you might get better audio if you disable Enhanced Audio.
Steps to turn off Enhanced Audio (Windows only):
1. Select Meeting > Manage My Settings > Audio Setup Wizard
The Welcome page of the Audio Setup wizard appears.
2. Click the Next button to advance to Step 5 of 5 in the Audio Setup Wizard
3. Click Advanced Settings.
4. Make sure Use Enhanced Audio is NOT selected (see screenshot)
5. To apply the Advanced Settings and return to the Audio Setup Wizard, click OK.
Step 5 of 5 of the Audio Setup Wizard appears.
6. Click Finish to exit the Audio Setup Wizard
| All speakers who are on Windows would need to disable this setting in a meeting session. It cannot be set for the room. |
| From Adobe In Connect 7, Adobe included an "enhanced" audio solution for PC users when running the audio setup wizard. It's in the advanced settings area. This is different than Connect 6 and the cause of some of the problems out there. Until the service pack fix is initiated, I believe this enhanced audio feature is defaulting to "on". We would like everyone to turn that off as a troubleshooting option (and it will default to off with the service pack). This means everyone in the meeting should have the enhanced audio box checked to "off". Otherwise, the enhanced audio may create problems with gain and other audio pickup and cause "breaks" in the delivery for everyone (on a congested network). |
Screen Share button no longer appears in share pod
Users with Flash 10 installed in their browser and have not previously installed the Adobe Connect add-in have reported that the option to "Share My Computer Screen" is missing from the share pod.
In order for the button to appear, users must first install the add-in and run the meeting using the add-in. From the menu bar at the top of the meeting window select 'Help' and then select 'Check for Updates' this will take you to the Connect Pro Downloads page. From that page select the Adobe Acrobat Connect Add-in for your system (Windows, Macintosh) and follow the instructions on screen to install the Adobe Connect Add-in.
After installation, it is recommended that you close your browser and then navigate to the meeting room. If the room does not launch in via the Connect Add-in try appending "&launcher=true" to the URL.
Whiteboard - Cannot Print to PDF under Mac OS X 10.5.6
The Whiteboard overlay allows you to print. However if you print to PDF, you get a black square rather than the image.
Workaround: take a picture of part of the screen (e.g., Command + Shift + 4, or use Grab screen capture utility)
