Setting the meeting room connection properties is important in order to:

  • Optimize information exchange and bandwidth
  • Determine quality of audio, video, and screen sharing streams

To Set Connection Properties:

Setting individual attendee connection speeds

Each participant can set an individual setting to optimize the amount of information sent/received. This applies to all participants, presenters and hosts.

To select individual connection speeds:

-Select Meeting from the top of the screen.

-Select Manage My Settings.

-Select My Connection Speed.

-Select the best bandwidth connection for your computer: Modem, DSL/Cable, or LAN.

Setting average room bandwidth

The host can set the overall setting for the meeting room by setting the bandwidth that matches the connectivity of the majority of attendees. This action will determine the maximum data the server can stream or send.

To set the room bandwidth:

-Select Meeting from the top of the screen.

-Select Room Performance & Appearance.

-Select Optimize Room Bandwidth.

-Select the appropriate bandwidth: Modem, DSL/Cable, or LAN.

Checking your own connection status

To view your own connection status:

-Select the green square in the upper righthand corner of the meeting. A semi-transparent pop-up will appear, displaying latency and throughput details.

Note: Weak signal is represented by a green half bar instead of orange light, and during a network disconnect a gray twirly icon appears.

Viewing attendee connection status

Only the host can see low bandwidths of attendees in their Attendee List Pod.

To view the status:

-Select an attendee from the Attendee List Pod. The name will be highlighted in green.

-Select Pod Options button.

-Select Show Connection Status. An icon next to the attendee will display the connection status.

Losing network connection

When network connection is lost, a gray twirly icon will appear, and a retry message will appear if you hover over this icon. Adobe Connect automatically tries to re-establish lost connections, but you may choose to manually attempt to reconnect by clicking the status indicator.
